From honoring Native American traditions to celebrating Mexican heritage, rodeos, and festive holiday events, the parades and festivals in Globe and Miami are a reflection of the people who call these places home.
COPPER DUST STAMPEDE RODEO
For fans of Western traditions, the Copper Dust Stampede Rodeo is a can’t-miss event. This annual rodeo, typically held in the spring, honors the town’s mining and cowboy heritage with thrilling rodeo events like bull riding, barrel racing, and team roping. The rodeo is a nod to Globe’s history as a mining town with a strong connection to ranching and cowboy culture.
The Copper Dust Stampede Parade kicks off the rodeo weekend, featuring cowboy floats, rodeo queens, and marching bands. The parade is a lively and colorful celebration of Globe’s western spirit, with local families, schools, and businesses participating in the procession. After the parade, visitors can enjoy the excitement of the rodeo itself, along with food trucks, live music, and family-friendly activities.
APACHE JII
One of the standout events in Globe is Apache Jii (Day), a celebration of the region’s rich Native American heritage. Held annually in September, this festival honors the history, traditions, and contributions of the Apache people, who have lived in the area for centuries. Apache Jii is a meaningful and educational celebration, with a focus on cultural preservation and community unity.
The Apache Jii Parade is the highlight of the event, featuring stunning displays of traditional Apache clothing, music, and dance. Participants in the parade often wear elaborate, colorful regalia, showcasing the cultural pride of the Apache people. The event also includes storytelling, craft displays, and performances by local Apache musicians and dancers, making it both an educational and festive occasion. Apache Jii is a time for the community to come together to celebrate the rich history of the region’s Native American tribes and ensure that these traditions are passed down to future generations.
CINCO DE MAYO
The Cinco de Mayo celebration in Globe and Miami brings the vibrant culture of Mexico to the heart of Arizona. While Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, in the U.S., it has become a day to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride. In Globe and Miami, this means a weekend of music, food, dance, and colorful parades.
Both towns host lively Cinco de Mayo Parades, featuring participants in traditional Mexican attire, including folkloric dresses, charro suits, and sombreros. The parades are accompanied by mariachi bands, dancers, and other local performers, creating a festive atmosphere that fills the streets with rhythm and joy. After the parades, local restaurants and food trucks serve up a delicious array of Mexican cuisine – from tacos and tamales to churros and margaritas.
In addition to the parades, there are often cultural performances showcasing traditional Mexican dance, such as the folkloric Ballet Folklórico. These performances are a beautiful expression of Mexican culture, celebrating the music, dance, and history of the country. Cinco de Mayo in Globe and Miami is a true community celebration that brings together people from all backgrounds in a spirit of unity and pride.
CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE
For the ultimate holiday experience in Globe and Miami, the Christmas Light Parade is a magical event that lights up the night sky. Held each December, this parade showcases beautifully decorated floats, cars, and even walking groups adorned with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights. The parade is a stunning display of holiday cheer, drawing crowds from across the region to enjoy the festive spirit.
